CENTRE SPACES

​The Mahone Bay Centre offers a variety of attractive, well-equipped spaces to meet the requirements of events and special functions of all descriptions. Many local organizations (e.g. Mahone Bay Community Arts; South Shore Players and others) have already partnered with the Centre to achieve very successful results!

012 Amos Family Community Art Studio
Features: A bright and inviting space to come together and create beautiful art.  This room includes a sink, tables and chairs.  Art supplies are not provided and must be supplied by those putting on any event.

BOOK THIS ROOM

014 Heather and David Abriel Room
Features: Kitchen, with stove, fridge, sink, two wash-rooms, assorted dishes, tables and chairs, private entrance, wheelchair accessibility.
Area: 630 sq. ft.
Seats: 50 – 60 without tables, 35 with tables and chairs
Rental Rates: $21 per hour without Kitchen , $26 per hour kitchen use included
Additional items available for rent include plates, bowls, glasses, cups, cutlery, tablecloths as well as laptop, mic and speakers, projector and set-up and tear down service)

100 Gymnasium
Features: Multi-use facility including basketball nets, badminton, a stage with side  rooms, extra outside entrance.
Suitable for large events, exhibitions, concerts, theatre etc.
Area: 47 x 75 feet
Seats: 348 persons with chairs only (400 available), 200 with chairs and tables (approx.)
Rental Rates: $36 hour /  Half day rate $155 (5 hours) Day rate (8 hours) of $305 (includes use of chairs).
Additional items available for rent: plates, bowls, glasses, cups, cutlery, tablecloths as well as laptop, mic and speakers, projector and set-up and tear down service)

200 Kitchen
Our kitchen can be booked for special events and social gatherings or in conjunction with another room rental.
Features: Coffee Bar with plumbed in Bunn coffee makers as well as designated dishwasher and fridge. The main kitchen has two glass top stoves, one fridge, two sinks, assorted dishware/cutlery, tables and chairs.
Area: 750 sq ft
Seats: 20 at tables.
Rental Rates: Use of the kitchen is $21 per hour unless booked with another room. Additional items available for rent include plates, bowls, glasses, cups, cutlery, tablecloths as well as laptop, mic and speakers, projector and set-up and tear down service).

Area: 750 sq. ft.

To assist us with the rental process you are asked to provide the following information:
  • Please provide a single contact person who will be on site during the rental along with their cell number and email address. 
  • The nature and type of event e.g. a meeting, an exhibition, etc.
  • The number of people expected to attend.
  • The date(s) and time(s) you are requesting. Unless otherwise agreed, all rentals will end at 11.00 p.m.
  • Any special equipment needs.
Mahone Bay Centre Requirements:
  • Renters are responsible for obtaining their own liquor license if required.
  • Renters must carry any insurance required for their rental event. The Mahone Bay Centre maintains general insurance coverage for common areas only.
  • Renters will need to promote their events in the community. MBC will list events and details provided in our calendar.

  • Room bookings can be made and paid for online.
  • A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking with the balance on the day following the reservation date.
  • HST applies to all rentals.
  • Should clean-up be required after the event, or damage is caused, the cost of the clean up or repair will be charged to the renter at the rate of $30/hour and for replacement goods at the purchase cost plus tax and shipping.

House Rules - Additional requirements during Covid-19 BELOW
The Mahone Bay Centre is a volunteer run organization. We therefore need and request the cooperation of all those renting space at the Centre. To ensure enjoyment by all please adhere to our basic house rules for rental:
  1. Please provide a single contact person who will be on site during the rental along with their cell number and email address. 
  2.  On arrival please observe the room setup and leave the room setup as you found it. Chairs lined up or stacked (no more than 4 high) and tables down and back where they came from.
  3. Do not borrow furniture or equipment from other rooms unless pre-authorized to do so.
  4.  Do not attach anything to the walls without prior detailed permission.
  5.  Garbage is to be correctly sorted in the receptacles provided.
  6.  Doorways MUST NOT be blocked.
  7.  No setups in the hallways.
  8.  Observe the hours rented.
  9.  Candles and open flames are NOT Permitted.
  10.  Soiled tabletops and surfaces must be cleaned.
  11. When using the kitchen please wash up after and replace dishes in the cupboard. 
  12.  If you are serving alcohol you will require a provincial liquor license.​​
 MBC Covid-19 Rules for Short Term and Occasional Renters holding classes,
meetings or events in the Centre

 

B.1      The measures in effect for common areas rooms and facilities available for short-term and occasional rental for purposes of holding classes, meetings or events in the Centre under the Mahone Bay Centre Society’s (MBC) Post Covid-19 Operation Plan (Plan) for Re-Opening the Mahone Bay Centre (Centre) must be followed by short term and occasional renters and are applicable as terms and conditions of the rental while the Plan is in effect.
 
B.2      Short-term renters are solely responsible for deciding whether they can hold a class, meeting or event (hereafter “event”) in accordance with Provincial law and must establish that fact to the satisfaction of MBC before the event can proceed.
 
B.3      Short Term renters must ensure that attendance at the event does not exceed the gathering maximum for the relevant space and that physical distancing in accordance with Provincial requirements is maintained in the space and at all times before and during the event.
 
B.4      Where a short-term renter hires or uses any of the Center’s furnishings or equipment such as tables and chairs, the short-term renter is responsible for sanitizing the furniture or equipment before and after using it.
 
B.5      If any short term renter has a Covid-19 infection or possible infection or has knowledge that one of their employees, customers, clients or invitees has a Covid-19 infection or possible infection, the short term renter must, subject to preserving the infected person’s privacy, report all relevant information to the MBC as soon as they have knowledge about the infection or possible infection.
 
B.6      If MBC has knowledge that any of the Centre’s staff, officers, contractors, tenants or other short-term renters, or any other person using the Centre, has a Covid-19 infection or possible infection MBC will immediately inform health authorities and, subject to preserving the infected person’s privacy, inform all tenants and short term renters holding current bookings and may, without further or any notice, close the Centre or part of the Centre for as long as may be necessary to prevent spread of infection or possible infection.

Thank you for your cooperation. We keep rental rates as low as possible on the understanding that those renting rooms will do their part by observing these housekeeping items. In the event that rooms are left in disorder there will be extra charges to return them to their base set ups.  ​
